The Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, established in 1937, is a fraternal educational and community-minded organization composed of former FBI Special Agents who served with Fidelity, Bravery and Integrity in defense of America.

The Society mission is to preserve our shared FBI values; to support the welfare of our members through services, benefits, and career networking; to offer programs of fellowship, education, service, and history; and to promote the FBI and law enforcement/national security communities.

Prior to entering the Bureau, Larry served as a Military Intelligence Officer, Airborne, in the U.S. Army. He served 30 plus years as a Special Agent. Larry was involved in the founding of the FBI Agents Association (FBIAA) and served seven years as the President. During that time, Larry spearheaded and achieved dramatic pay increases for the FBI Agents based upon changes in AUO. He also served as a member of the National Advisory Commission on Law Enforcement (NACLE). Larry and fellow member Tom Powers were instrumental in organizing and running the FBI Agents Association National Charity Golf Tournament for 18 years, which raised over $320,000. He served two terms as the Chapter Chair for the Los Angeles chapter. He is a former Trustee for the FBI Foundation and was the Pacific Region Vice President for the Society. He has served on the Society's Information Committee, the Foundation Investment Advisory Committee, and the Society's Nominating Committee. He is currently the President of Larry Langberg and Associates, and investigative and consulting firm.

Since 1937, the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI has been led by a President, who is elected by the general membership. Until 2013, the President was elected for a one year term of office. With a By-Laws change, President Ellen Glasser became the first to serve a two year term.
