  HISTORY OF THE SOCIETY

J. Edgar Hoover Memorial

The J. Edgar Hoover Memorial, inaugurated in 1976, consists of the Physical Memorial at the FBI Headquarters and the Living Memorial comprising annual scholarship awards. This program, termed "the most significant and meaningful undertaking in the history of the Society," was conceived, planned and brought to success by the efforts of members of the Society, with the enthusiastic support of staunch friends of Mr. Hoover and the FBI. The Memorial is the Society’s tribute to the founder of the present-day FBI, an acknowledgement of the respect for the principles he engendered in FBI Agents, and a public symbol of personal pride in service in the ranks of the FBI.
