Note from the President
Society member George "Pat" Johnson (1972-1999), of the Emerald Coast Chapter, asked me if the National Office could convey his deep appreciation for the outpouring of cards and gestures in response to his recent, horrific family tragedies. He and his wife Lorraine were deeply moved by all of your thoughts and prayers. He said he can not respond to all of you, and he did not realize just how many friends he has in the FBI Family.

Last month, Pat's brother, James Johnson, and his wife Beverly, were killed in their home near St Joseph, MO, and their grandson has been charged with their murders. Days later, Pat's brother, Michael Johnson, and his son Joseph (age 30), from Moncks County, SC, were killed when the pilot of an Air Force F-16 fighter jet ignored instructions to turn and collided midair with their Cessna 150 north of Charleston.

Just to share a personal note, Pat and his brothers Mike and Jim made history when all three attended the Citadel together, and their father was a professor there at the same time. Pat's nephew Joseph was also a Citadel man. Many family members and friends are mourning the inexplicable losses of Jim, Beverly, Mike, and Joseph. Pat mentioned that many charities are being established to honor the deceased and to create a college fund for Joseph's daughter, but he is not seeking donations for them. In the spirit of the FBI Family, I told him I planned to make a donation to our Foundation, "In Memory of James, Beverly, Michael, and Joseph Johnson."
