Standing strong with the FBI and our Active Agents

Press release sent out on 2/22/13 in support of a Sequestration Resolution:

The Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI (The Society) Warns Against Looming Government Spending Cuts and the Effect Upon Critical FBI Operations

The Society of Forme1.4r Special Agents today warned against the looming government spending cuts resulting from the proposed sequestration process. Society President Alfred Scudieri issued the following statement:

"The Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI calls upon the White House and members of Congress to reach an agreement that would prevent sequestration and allow the critical work done by the FBI to continue unimpeded. Potential cuts of $550 million to the FBI would negatively impact critical investigations in the area of terrorism, cyber attacks, national security, and all of its criminal investigative programs. Our membership of almost 8,000 retired FBI Special Agents is tremendously concerned about the devastating impact of these projected budget cuts on the operations of the FBI and the resultant effect on national security and public safety. It is time for the White House and Congress to work together to provide for a solution that avoids these across-the-board cuts of sequestration.”

The Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI is a professional and fraternal association of almost 8,000 retired FBI Special Agents nationwide. The Society was founded 75 years ago and is the largest association created specifically for former Federal Law Enforcement Officials. The mission is to promote the welfare of its members, preserve the friendships and loyalties achieved when our members were Special Agents of the FBI, and to support the FBI and law enforcement as positive forces in American society.

President Alfred Scudieri
