This material has been heavily redacted. Special Agent Bevels served in the FBI from 1955 to 1976. This interview took place on June 5, 2004. Interviewed by David G. Binney. SA Bevels entered the FBI in 1955 and his first office was the Chicago Field Office , followed by WFO. He was on the espionage squad conducting surveillances and working double agents. Some were long term operations. SA Bevels recommends a good book on the subject called Cassidy’s Run by David Wise. He worked the Ellsberg and Pentagon Papers case, interviewing Arthur Schlesinger in the process of the investigation. SA Bevels tells a story that a reporter looking for dirt on J. Edgar Hoover went through Hoover’s garbage. So thereafter an Agent guarded the trash from the time it was put out by Hoover’s chauffeur to when it was picked up. This agent was even invited by Hoover’s maid for coffee and donuts in his kitchen.Download PDF 1
