| | Roy H. | Britton | FBIHQ; Havana; Trinidad; Mexico; Dominican Republic; Paris; TX – Dallas | 1943 - 1980 | | SIS Program, Legat Program | For the FBI Oral History Heritage Project sponsored by the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, Inc., which holds the copyright to the material.
Mr. Britton served in the FBI from 1943 to 1980. These memoirs cover emails from 2003 to 2006.
Mr. Britton believes he may possibly be the longest serving member of the Special Intelligence Service (SIS) still living. He writes of his SIS status (or lack of it) in the Mexico Embassy. He covers the SIS start from President Roosevelt’s memorandum, to how agents were sent undercover and their comments on coming back to field work.
Britton identifies a number of Agents assigned to SIS and later as Legats in various places around the work. He tells about the Dominican Republic and the contingent of FBI Agents and support personnel who go to help the government. He also adds a few other stories of his adventures over the years. | Download PDF 1 | | |
