Jeremiah Cordel Delworth

Date of Death: December 3, 1945

Cause of Death: SA Jeremiah C. Delworth was assigned to the FBI’s Legal Attaché office in Paraguay during World War II. He was officially assigned to the Security Division in the Special Intelligence Service (SIS) during this assignment. He died in a plane crash in Argentina while on official business on December 3, 1945. He was on a U.S. Army transport plane enroute to the U.S. when the plane went down in a remote area, making it extremely difficult to retrieve the bodies of those aboard the plane. The cause of the crash is believed to have been weather related.  Delworth’s brother, Lawrence, had been killed while serving in the U.S. Navy in 1944, making his death even more difficult for his mother, who served as next of kin and executor of SA Delworth’s estate.
